The assignment was to design a large motor yacht styled after the coasters that sailed between the shores of northern Europe in the 1960’s. An interesting decade; after the launch of the nuclear-powered cargo vessel Savannah in 1962, streamlined designs became the fashion in the marine industry. Commercial vessels were designed with streamlined superstructures, combined with attractive hulls. Later, the client changed his mind, cancelled the design, and ordered a classic, more yacht-like, design. Quite a pity, as this Classic Coaster is definitely one of our most favourite designs.
